International Project Management

Aimed at research groups, institutions and societies involved in research, development and/or innovation projects with entities in other countries.

Good management of projects that involve the participation of researchers and institutions from two or more countries begins with effective and timely communication between all the actors. The challenge is even greater when dealing with institutions with very different organizational cultures and governance models. Given the increasing importance of international collaborative projects, many research institutions have created an area or division with the mission of managing these projects. Still, there are many challenges, both in planning and in operationalizing the projects.

We have over 15 years of experience in international projects, conducted in Brazil and abroad, working directly with academic, government and private institutions in 15 countries (*). We act as facilitators in all stages of the project, managing the communication and relationship among the participants and contributing to the achievement of the expected goals, objectives, and impacts.

We adopt a participatory approach, building upon the experience and knowledge of the various actors involved to enhance their skills and build new capacities for international project management. At all stages of the project, we ensure good communication and relationship management between the institutions and project participants.

The International project management consulting typically includes the following activities:
Initial definitions

Governance: identification of key actors in the institutions, definition of their role in the project, and elaboration of the consultancy work plan.

Initial assessments and diagnostics to support the definition of objectives and goals, planning and proposal development.

Planning

We support the actors involved in the project planning in terms of adherence to international standards and compliance with funding agencies' requirements.

Creation of a communication plan, which aims to ensure an effective and timely flow of information and decisions throughout the project.

Development of the project monitoring plan, with the definition of metrics and performance indicators.

Implementation

Measurement and data collection, analysis, and monitoring of the project implementation.

Management of meetings, mediation of discussions, and report writing in Portuguese, English, and/or Spanish.

Customized training, according to the needs identified during the planning stages.

Evaluation

Evaluation of project results and impacts, enriched with interviews and questionnaires to project participants and beneficiaries.

Compilation of best practices and lessons learned during the project and development of a case study.
